Books condition

Book condition is detailed in the product page description, indicating its standard term, and any remarkable defect. Please read carefully before buying to avoid any disappointment.

All first editions are first printing, unless stated otherwise.

Standard terms to describe the condition are as follow:

  • New: Unread, unopened book in perfect condition.
  • As New: Perfectly preserved book. 
  • Fine: As New but allowing for the normal effects of time on an unused book that has been protected. The book may have been opened and read, but there are no defects to the book, jacket or pages. 
  • Near Fine: Used book that is almost but not quite in fine condition, shows some small signs of wear or slight shelf wear - but no tears.
  • Very Good: Used book that is at the high end of Good but not quite  Fine. The book might have a lightly bumped cover corner or shelf wear. The dust jacket might be a bit rubbed along its edges and might have a few tiny edge chips. Any remarkable defect will be noted in the book’s information.
  • Good: Used book that is complete, sound, and clean, with moderate signs of wear. The book may look somewhat shelfworn and may have bumped corners. This is our minimum acceptable condition.  Any remarkable defect will be noted in the book’s information.
Order confirmation
You will receive an email confirmation of your order, confirming the transaction and detailing the items you have ordered.
Please note that due to limited availability, we cannot guarantee that a particular book will be available by the time you finalize your order. In these circumstances, we will notify you and re-fund you as soon as possible with any sum debited from your credit/debit card. 

All purchases must be paid by credit or debit card.

Your credit card details are not revealed to us, and are never stored on our server or database. Payment in full for each order placed by individuals must be received and cleared before items will ship.



Delivery expenses are calculated during checkout, based on the weight of the items selected and the geographical zone they are sent to.

All items are packaged as securely as possible with bubble wrap and strong cardboard book boxes.

You will receive a dispatch email from us when your order has shipped, including its tracking number if applicable. Your item will be sent within 3 business days after purchase, though if you have any special requirement, please let us know.

There are two shipping options available:

  • Registered Shipping. Recommended.

This option includes tracking number and full loss/damage insurance. 

  • Standard Shipping, untrackable

Sent via Correos (Spain’s public postal service) which will be delivered by its international counterpart depending on the country i.e. Royal Mail, Collissimo, La Poste, USPS…

Only for orders under 2 kg and combined value below 60 €. This more affordable option does not include tracking number nor loss insurance. Janus Books will not be responsible for any lost parcel.

As a general guide you should expect to receive your order within the following timescales after shipment has taken place: 

Standard Registered
Spain 2 - 8 days 2 - 4 days
Europe 6 - 14 days 2 - 8 days
United States 7 - 18 days 4 - 12 days
Japan, Others 14 - 21 days 4- 12 days

Please note that overseas delivery times can vary considerably depending on your country’s customs policies.

If your order has not arrived in this timeframe or you have any other inquiries please get in touch at and we will advise you accordingly.


Return and cancellation

Under the EU law, you have the right to return and get a refund of any item within 14 days of receiving the order. We will give you a refund by the same method as your original payment for products that are returned with proof of purchase and in the same conditions that were bought, once we have received them. Refund usually takes around 2-6 working days to arrive to customer, but it can take up to 30 days depending on location and card company, so please be patient, and if you have any doubt or issue you can get in touch with your credit/debit card company.

Returns must be paid for by the customer.
