Collier Schorr's extremely hard to find second photobook ever published. Conquistadores explores the photographer's recurring themes of androgyny, identity and the construction and confusion of gender. Included here for the first time works from her early defining series, Wrestlers and Forest and Fields.
Schorr considers herself a feminist, though she says: "perhaps, I would not be considered a good feminist by some people, among them ex-students of mine, who might have found me too overbearing, sacrilegious, and not nurturing enough to be a good feminist."
