Saint Laurent, 2021 Edition of 300 Softcover, 44 pages, 155 x 235 mm Includes a folded poster, 445 x 300 mm Condition: New
The limited edition zine featuring cult photographer Derek Ridger's work, curated by Anthony Vaccarello, was released in conjunction with an exhibition in both Paris and Los Angeles Saint Laurent Rive Droite stores on Valentine's day, and sold out in a matter of hours.
Derek Ridgers is one of the greatest photographers of British counterculture since the early 70s. His pictures serve not only as a fascinating document of British style and subculture but as a testament to the spirit of youth, lauding the subjects and their indentity.
With his intimate yet very raw approach to photography, it’s the individuality and vulnerability of Ridger’s subjects that catches the eye and makes an impact. He has said “when punk came along at the end of 1976 the audience suddenly became more photogenic than the bands, I developed something of a compulsion to record some of the fantastically exuberant and colourful young people I saw, both in nightclubs and, later on, on the street.”
