Prominent fashion photographer and youth culture icon Davide Sorrenti was born on July 9th, 1976 and died of complications stemming from a rare blood disorder after experimenting with drugs on February 4th, 1997, aged only 20. His lifelong terminal blood disease required him being connected to an infusion pump every night, referred to by the family simply as "the machine." The warmly lit, intimate sequence of photographs captured by his brother Mario — also an acclaimed photographer — documents his nightly medication ritual hooked up to the machine one Thanksgiving when he was sixteen.
