Cult photographer Miguel Trillo has been documenting the evolution of Spanish youth culture for the last 50 years. As a contributor in a new artistic and cultural movement –known as La Movida Madrileña– which occurred after dictator Franco's death in 1975 and consequently the end of the fascist regime, Trillo captured like nobody else a generation who suddenly regained its freedom. The political transition –along with the moral and aesthetic changes mostly influenced by British punk– gave the rebellious youth new forms of expression and identity; a power previously lost.

These 17 photographs taken between 1981 and 1987 –a small fragment of Miguel Trillo's exhaustive body of work– offer a collective portrait of a society in the midst of change during a unique and exceptional period in Spain's recent history.
