American documentary photographer Norman Mauskopf's first book looks into the lives of professional rodeo cowboys throughout California and the Western states in the early 80s. The photographs, interviews and stories extend the North American cowboy mythology while giving the reader a working view of the rodeo circuit and how it functions. The images follow the rodeo cowboy from town to town, observing him on the road; small town parades and rodeo queens; spectators and competitors are all a part of these pictures and dialogues.
