A series of diptych images composed of two originally separate photographic reportages: one in color about industrial chicken farming in 1998, the other in black and white focusing on the final years of obligatory military service in France (1996). Both subjects from these two seemingly unconnected worlds are helplessly forced into a situation dictated by something beyond their control. Set at the frontier of absurd and derisory, Olivier Culmann's work stands as a metaphor of today's world, one of misery, duty and death.
