Producciones Editoriales, 1977 First edition Softcover, 96 pages, 300 x 215 mm Condition: Very Good +
This is the first ever published punk photobook, surely one of the rarest and most highly sought after, with a focus on the subculture and do-it-yourself fashion of the movement. Salvador Costa came to London in 1976 and again in 1977 and photographed the punk scene over a number of nights at The Roxy, just a the time punk was exploding. He shot bands including the now legendary The Jam, XTC, Johnny Rotten and the more or less forgotten The Cortinas, Cherry Vanilla and Johnny Moped, but more importantly he photographed everyone else in the room, taking exceptional interest in the fashion and styling details.
Cited in 'The Photobook: A History volume III' by Parr and Badger, the book is composed entirely of full page black and white photographs, plus a six page introduction in Spanish by Jordi Vargas.
